Mahin Saremi, relative of the Camp residents, former political prisoner and leading activist in the 2009 protests in Iran, reacted to allegations that the Camp leadership and residents are over exaggerating the harassments. While blaming the US FTO list as a pretext for such violations of rights by Iraqi forces she said:
“Hawks will not pick out hawks' eyes.” Some pro-Ayatollah pundits have gone further than this, and are accusing the MEK of imposing all the hardships it is suffering on its self. At the same time they have started a smear campaign against those noble US former officials who have met the truth and are confirming the innocence of the victims. At least they are defending values promised by Washington, only to keep a good face on their behalf.
Accusing the victim of torturing itself is not a new tactic. The first to use this against the Mujahedeen in Iran was Khomeini himself during the 80s.
“What is amazing is how Washington is following footsteps of a totalitarian theocracy in axing and knifing the main opposition to the tyrants in Iran and then blaming the dirty work on the victim. The ferocity of it all is that they tread on the same values that Americans used to believe in. Was it not President Obama who spoke of “change” and who said will support those who defend “freedom”? Is this the Administrations’ way of proving “Democratic values” by driving away any sympathy Iranians may have towards it by smearing noble men and women who defend these values?”
“All the fuss made in the recent propaganda blitz by pro-cleric loudspeakers is only paving the way for another Humanitarian crisis, simply because they are condemning those who are speaking out against the ayatollahs.
She concluded: “Speak the truth and shame the devil.”
The truth at the moment is “The first unfortunate death in camp Liberty” to undermine humanitarian standards of treatment of the residents by Iraqi authorities.

Washington’s Smear Campaign Against MEK Vs. Death In Camp Liberty

As Washington’s smear campaign fires away at MEK, Bardia Amir-Mostofian, a 44 year old engineer and resident of Ashraf, dies of cardiac arrest due to fatigue following a 48-hour-long transit inspection after entering Camp Liberty.

Bardia was one of 700 residents who volunteered to go to the Camp described to be a “prison” by a recent statement by the Council of Europe. (Full statement of Council of Europe)

International pleas by the opposition (MEK) alerting the US,UNAMI and international community of a plot to fail the relocation and blame it on the opposition has not been heeded when most needed.

The statement released by the opposition blames Baridas’ death on his extreme fatigue and stress cause by the rush imposed by Iraq and UNAMI to relocate before the Iranian New year.

The MoU does not allow residents the freedom to transfer their movable belongings.

What could be the reason for Nazi style defamation against certain line of US politicians who have spoken for basic American values: Democracy and Independence?

They are either driven by expedient actions guided primarily by self-interested motives for election or misguided policy steered from Tehran.

President Obama’s campaign mottos included “Organize for change and "Help me take back America". These embrace values embedded in the American Revolution for independence and democracy from British “Illegitimate tyranny” during the 17 century. If “change” and “American values” are still watchwords of the Administration, then it is unequivocal to presume any person “friend or foe” advocating and paying the price to promote them is a staunch.
It is a knife in the back of these friends to accuse them of “risking reputation for speaking for MEK” while they are practically standing resolute against the enemy.

To be crystal clear: It is recreant not to defend such values when the opportunity arises.

Genuine American values, respected internationally, root from the American Revolutionary war and the Declaration of Independence.

“Basic Democracy” is taken for granted today. The composed Greek word (dēmos) "people" and κράτος (kratos) "power" practiced in the “House” today. This good fortune is a consequence of a combined effort of “militias” and “revolutionaries” who confronted British generals such as Gage in deathly and long armed struggle to gain an “Independent” democracy called the “United States of Americas”.

British colonialism tax demands were announced Illegitimate and the rule Tyrannical.

The illegitimacy of a tyrant led to an unwavering armed struggle for independence and democracy.

The same values today can be perverted in an artful hypocritical smear campaign to legitimize appeasement over the same values that made “America” in exchange for short term interests; inglorious to basic American values.

The MEK, the oldest pro-democracy movement in current Iranian history, has been labeled a terrorist despite the fact that they follow the footsteps of “American militias” who fought for the Nations independence from a Tyrannical and colonial system. It observes the same set of values but in Iran’s own social-political and historic context.

It is not a display of courage to daub the truth and vilifying a line of noble US and European gallant men and women who are steadfast to speak it out: Stand with democracy not Tyranny.

Speaking in rallies of a pro-democracy movement is the only credible thing to do if we are to prove our loyalty to American values.

We should not forget that the MEK is the best organized and most formidable opposition to the current Iranian regime. It has challenged the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism for the past 34 years. It is the MEK that provides hope for the current Iranian people that far exceeds what the US and Europeans can offer short of direct intervention.

Littered by ominous tags and labels by the tyrants in theocratic totalitarianism in Tehran for the past 35 years, which is not surprising, they still peruse a democratic and universal platform.

General Hugh Shelton once in a conference (July 2011) said; when you look at the 10-point program of human rights platform published by President-elect Mrs. Rajavi, which emphasizes the same religious and gender freedoms that are emphasized and advocated by the U.S. Department of State, to me, it makes it a no-brainer.

The group's platform declares its commitment to democracy, free speech and sexual equality as well as opposition to the death penalty: 'We recognize private property, private investment and market economy.' The tyrants of Tehran are manifestly unwilling to submit themselves to a free and fair election of its own people which is the central element in the MEK platform.

MEK has served a large and important international interest because of its ability to reveal the clandestine activities of the regime in Tehran in contravention of repeated resolutions by the Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The fundamental question outstanding is why those defending genuine American values are in the line of fire, while our real enemy: The theocratic totalitarian regime; Godfather of terrorism; religious fundamentalism; deception and political fraud is let lose to accomplish its main objective.

Why do we not see a real revelation campaign covering atrocities of the Tehran regime, its pundits in Capital Hill and Europe and its covert NGOs and organisations?

If there is logic behind this opportunist trend, it is flawed.

The best we could serve the tyrants in Tehran is to add diversity and difference in our collective front against one main enemy, not within, but outside: Warmongering clerical fascists in Iran.

We have repeated testimonies of 4000 European representatives, more than 130 House representatives, 1800 jurists, senior officials in our American intelligence and counter-terrorism activities and senior American military officials, along with 7 Highest European Courts, US high Court, French and Spanish High courts: pointing the finger for “terrorism” away from the MEK and to the Iranian Regime.

If Rendell, Romney and many others are to be fingered and smeared, it would only be logical to broaden the litigation campaign and cover thousands more who echo the same: MEK is a pro-democracy movement and anti-thesis to the Tyrants in Iran.

To clarify the contradictions, question marks, and ambivalence we only have to answer two pivotal questions:

Whose side are we on, the “freedom seekers” or the “illegitimate tyrants”?
Which is the obvious enemy and threat to our “values and independence

Why are American MEK supporters targeted now?

http://bit.ly/GXfomH After the US court decision about the mandamus of the MEK (the main Iranian opposition movement known by their Farsi name, Mojahedin-e-Khalq) on their unjust designation as a foreign terrorist group, came an orchestrated campaign against US dignitaries, military and political personalities who have expressed their support for the MEK. But why all these allegations now? The simple truth is that if the State Department had any logical argument about this group and its links to terrorism, it would have provided it to the court and to the media in order to justify the designation. And that would have been the end of argument.
But as it is very routine, when there is no evidence, allegations and disinformation campaign is used as an instrument to undermine and derive the course of events.

Little by little we are witnessing footprints of well known lobbies of the Iranian regime disguised as a noble U.S. citizens or outfits, yet with a sinister intent and objective.

One of those is an indiviual called Trita Parsi. according to Washington Times, Trita Parsi, who heads the "National Iranian America Council", argues that the money is connected to the MEK and as such is trying to muddy the water for the US dignitaries who support the Iranian resistance and in particular believe terrorism designation must not be a tool of political deal-making, especially deals with the likes of the mullahs’ regime.

According to the Washington Times on March 9: "Mr. Parsi claims that officials from the State Department have privately told him that the MEK sets up 'shell organizations' to raise money. When asked about Mr. Parsi's claim, a State Department spokesman declined to comment."

So even the State Department is reluctant to confirm these allegations!

It is ironic that Trita Parsi is himself subject of an ongoing investigation for his role and function as an influence peddler of the Iranian regime in Washington, DC.

Actually this mud-slinging and slur campaign is nothing new in Iranian politics at all. The Iranian regime's notorious secret service, MOIS , is a master of tarnishing the image of the regime's dissidents.

But there is another side to this experience. Whenever the person who was targeted showed no fear and did not succumb, the MOIS had no choice but to retreat.

In this case, as they have no evidence against the MEK they try to conjure up evidences and as such to neutralize MEK supporters.

This group of U.S. senior former officials represent an impressive, bipartisan group that is a very rare in Washington, DC. They include three Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Director of FBI, the Attorney General, the State Department’s coordinator of anti-terrorism, the State Department’s director of policy planning, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, two Chairmen of the Democratic National Committee, two CIA Directors, the President’s National Security Advisor and the President’s Homeland Security Advisor, believe the U.S's principles and values are not matters of bargaining, with Baghdad tyrants, their masters in Tehran or anyone to that effect. They are the voice of conscience of the true values of the US.

They are the ones who dared to do the difficult right, instead of going with the easy wrong.

They do not want to witness again that US put MEK off its list after mullahs are gone, very similar to what happened to Nelson Mandela and its organization. He was targeted by the same allegations but nothing could stop him and his movement to restore freedom and democracy in their country.

But this could be a slough for mullahs' lobbies and those at the Foggy Bottom who have gone over the board over the years in their bid to appease Tehran tyrants. It seems they have not noticed that the end game is near and the death bell for the defunct policy of appeasement and all of its by-products, including the inclusion of the dissidents in the terror list is ringing.

Bipartisan Political Leaders Urge Removal of MEK from Terrorist List, Denounce Attempt to Silence State Department Policy Critics

WASHINGTON, March, 24, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX

With a federal appeals court deadline looming for the U.S. State Department to answer why it has defied earlier court rulings requiring review of a decision to maintain the main Iranian opposition movement, the Mujahedin-e Khaq (MEK) on the terrorist list, top former US officials and Members of Congress are urging the Department to remove the group immediately.

"I believe we will not only get our day in court, I believe we will succeed," former U.S. Department of Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge told an audience of Members of Congress, staff members, and Iranian-Americans during an event, marking the Iranian New Year, Nowrouz. "Sometimes justice takes a little longer than normal, but sooner or later, righteousness and the law prevail, and we will prevail."

Other speakers included Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), the House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair, Rep. Mike Coffman (R-CO), Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) and retired Army Col. Wesley Martin, who commanded Camp Ashraf.

At issue is the fate of 3,400 Iranian dissidents now housed at Camp Ashraf and Camp Liberty in Iraq; their safe relocation has been vastly complicated by the State Department's refusal the make a decision on the Status of the MEK.

In 2010, a three-judge panel in the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit unanimously ruled that the State Department had violated the due process rights of the MEK and ordered the Obama administration to revisit the issue. Since then, the State Department continues to be in violation of the due process in virtue of its refusal to make a decision based on instructions given by the Court.

Earlier this month, attorneys for the MEK filed a writ of mandamus seeking the court's intervention in light of State inaction. The court did so expeditiously, and gave the government a deadline of March 26 to respond to the mandamus.

In the meantime, in a move which some observers believe is tied to the court developments, the Treasury Department is apparently contemplating a "potential" investigation into the source of funding for events where a number of senior former federal law enforcement, intelligence and national security officials had urged that the MEK be dropped from the State Department's terror list and the residents of Ashraf be protected.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-CA, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Oversight and Investigations subcommittee, has called this inquiry "a travesty," adding that it is "a sin that our government is going after these people trying to support the people of Iran."

"It seems that the method to silence those who are in favor of the liberation of the MEK from the foreign terrorist organization... is to attack them personally... That is not going to work. Whoever is behind the attacks on these good men and women with unbelievable credentials, who believe in the de-listing of the MEK, it will not succeed," emphasized the Texas Republican, Rep. Ted Poe.

Since the Court ruling, nearly 130 members of Congress, including House Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Mike Rogers (R-MI), Oversight and Government Reform Chair Darrel Issa (R-CA) and Armed Services Committee Chair Howard McKeon (R-CA), have co-sponsored resolutions calling for the delisting of the MEK

Death In Camp Liberty vs. Washington?s Smear Campaign Against MEK

http://bit.ly/GJXfbw
As Washington’s smear campaign fire away at MEK, Bardia Amir-Mostofian a 44 year old engineer and resident of Ashraf dies of cardiac arrest due to fatigue after 48-hour-long transit inspection after entering Camp Liberty.

Bardia was one of 700 residents who volunteered to go to the Camp described to be a “prison” by a recent statement by the Council of Europe. (Full statement of Council of Europe) International pleas by the opposition (MEK) alerting the US,UNAMI and International community of a plot to fail the relocation and blame it on the opposition has not been heeded when most needed.

The statement released by the opposition blames Baridas’ death on his extreme fatigue and stress cause by the rush imposed by Iraq and UNAMI to relocate before the Iranian New year. Reports of harassment, attacks, physical threats by Iraqi SWAT teams, who speak Iranian, on the residents at Liberty, have caused serious concerns on the “good will” of the Iraqi side.

The presence of numerous Iraqi police forces, their invasion in the “women’s quarters”, deliberate sabotage on the sewage system and spying instruments improvised around the camp all point to this necessity.
As reported by the opposition, Bardia’s death was caused by prolonged inspection and harassment: “The inspection of belongings began at 8 am on Sunday March 18 and went on until midday on Monday March 19, following which inspections of individuals began. At one point during this offensive inspection, the Special Forces known as SWAT attacked the residents and beat them with electric batons.

The Legal representative of the residents has released a report by Professor Guy Goodwin-Gill in a statement points the blame on Iraqi forces;
“After arriving at Camp Liberty, Iraqi officials under the command of Sadeq Mohammad Kazim (one of the commanders of the July 2009 and April 2011 massacres), sought to conduct yet a further thorough search. During the 48 hour process of search and transfer to Liberty, the residents were constantly subjected to insults. Many of their items were confiscated with no justification. All these matters were reported to representatives of UNAMI at the scene.” (read report at: http://ping.fm/mBcQE)

Mahin Saremi, relative of the Camp residents, former political prisoner and leading activist in the 2009 protests in Iran, reacted to allegations that the Camp leadership and residents are over exaggerating the harassment. While blaming the US FTO list as a pretext for such violations of rights by Iraqi forces she said:
“"Hawks will not pick out hawks eyes." Some pro-Ayatollah pundits have gone over the edge to accuse the MEK of imposing hardship and suffering over the residents. The smear campaign against nobel US officials who protect the truth about the Camp is working against the interests of the US. They are defending promised values by Washington only to keep a good face for it among Iranian people. Accusing the victim of self torture and harassment is not a new tactic. the first sponsor of such propaganda was Khomeini when he accused the MEK of killing its supporters in prisons and in public meetings during the 1980s.
The question is why do the "devils work " for him? Why side with the Ayatollahs against their victim?
"The MEK is not worried of the truth and when ever there has been an iota of justice, the MEK has been the first to out spur the truth. What Washington is doing is giving the Ayatollahs the best gift this new year: Keeping its main opposition as pawn in an illegal FRO list."

The table we set for Nowruz:
The origin of Norouz is an event that has been celebrated for at least 3,000 years.
Its roots date back to the beginning of the Zoroastrian religion

Norouz has two main parts. The first is pre-new year, which is associated withthe purging of bad luck, cleaning, and preparing for the New Year. The second part is the New Year itself, and is associated with bringing good fortune to your family and friends to ensure a happy and fruitful new year.

The last Wednesday of the old year is called Chahar Shanbe Soori. On this day people usually gather in the streets or at the beach and jump over built fires and recite "Give me your beautiful red color, and take back my sickly paleness!" This is done in an effort to bring good health to oneself for the coming New Year (5).

On the last Thursday of the year, called Shabeh Dadan, families go to the cemetery to visit relatives that have past away, and give alms for the sake of the dead.

Another interesting custom involved in pre-new year is Koozeh Shekastan, the breaking of earthen jars. The

Families of political prisoners, stay outside notorious Evin prison to be closer to loved ones in the dungeons when celebrating the new year.

family places several low denomination coins, pieces of charcoal, and rocks into the jar. The jar is then taken to the roof of the house and the contents of the jar are tossed onto the streets, while the practitioners recite, "my pains and misfortunes onto the street.

Another pre-new year event is the cleaning out of old items in one's house, This may be associated with the casual practice known as "spring cleaning."

The moment just before the arrival of the New Year is known as Saati Tahvil, the countdown to Norouz.

The first day of Norouz is when the Haft Seen is set. This marks the beginning of the New Year celebration, which lasts for fourteen days.
Sofreh-e Haft Sin (clothof seven dishes), is the setting of seven objects that start withthe letter "S". It is usually placed in the nicest area of the house.
Each of the things has a symbolic meaning associated with the themes of the New Year, depicting an Iranian virtue that is desired by people.

These are the items of the Haft seen:
Sabzeh– wheat or lentil sprouts growing in a dish symbolizing rebirth
Samanu - pudding made of wheat symbolizing wealth
Senjed – dried fruit of Jujube tree symbolizing love
Seer - garlic symbolizing medicine
Seeb – apples symbolizing beauty and health
Somaq – sumac berries symbolizing the sun
Serkeh – vinegar symbolizing age
Sonbol – hyacinth flower symbolizing the arrival of spring
Sekkeh - gold coins symbolizing prosperity and wealth
Items such as pastries, food dishes, candles, eggs, and a holy book such as the Koran, Bible, or Torah may also be placed on the table even though they do not start with an "S".

Another customary tradition is to give money from the elderly to the young in the meaning of wealth of the future.
Along with the dispersal of eidee money to youths, Norouzvisits are also made to family and close friends, which is known as Eide Dedanee . Visits are usually first made to elders, and these visits are expected to be reciprocated.

Apologies to US Supporters of MEK: Never Support Democracy

Monday, 19 March 2012, 2:45 pm Article: Steffen Hues Apologies to US Supporters of MEK: Never Support Democracy and Freedom Side with Mullahs and Tyrants for Immunity in US Elections by Steffen Hues March 15, 2012 What could be the reason for Nazi style defamation against certain line of US politicians who have spoken for basic American values: Democracy and Independence? They are either driven by expedient actions guided primarily by self-interested motives for election or misguided policy steered from Tehran. President Obama’s campaign mottos included “Organize for change and "Help me take back America". These embrace values embedded in the American Revolution for independence and democracy from British “Illegitimate tyranny” during the 17 century. If “change” and “American values” are still watchwords of the Administration, then it is unequivocal to presume any person “friend or foe” advocating and paying the price to promote them is a staunch. MEK- Liberty :Council of Europe Condemns Camp Prison

The Council of Europe has issued a statement on the lack of lack of humanitarian and human rights standards in Camp Liberty and has urged the Iraqi government to implement the minimum guarantees demanded by the residents, including the removal of all armed units from the interior of the Camp. The text of the statement reads:
[15/03/2012]  PACE’s Political Affairs Committee has repeated its call to the Iraqi authorities to stop turning Camp Liberty – a site near Baghdad where around 800 members of an Iranian opposition group are now living – into a prison. In a statement adopted yesterday, the committee called for armed units and surveillance to be removed from the camp, as well as free movement for its residents and improved conditions, including access to medical services, lawyers and UN monitors. The complete text of the Council’s statement:
Following the statement made in January and owing to the fact that
unfortunately no improvement has been made, the Committee on Political Affairs
and Democracy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe calls on
the Iraqi authorities to stop turning Camp Liberty into a prison. It also calls on
the UN Secretary General to ensure the minimum guarantees required by the
camp residents.
In spite of the lack of humanitarian and human rights standards, to date, 800
Ashraf residents have been moved to Camp Liberty in order to find a peaceful
solution. But this camp is suffering from a serious shortage of drinking water and
electricity. Open sewage has made the area terribly polluted and the danger to
human health and many of the trailers are extremely badly damaged, making
them unusable. Liberty residents are not allowed to leave the camp. They have
no direct access to medical services nor to lawyers. There is a police station and
nearly 150 armed Iraqi forces equipped with machine guns in this very limited
area of half a square kilometre in which 3400 people have to live. Several
surveillance cameras and eavesdropping devices have been installed in the
camp, the output of which has been passed to the Iranian authorities to threaten
the residents and their families.
The Committee urges the Iraqi government to implement the minimum
guarantees demanded by the residents, including the removal of all armed units,
surveillance cameras and eavesdropping devices from the camp; resolving the
infrastructure problem, particularly regarding water, electricity and sewage;
providing direct access to medical services, lawyers and UN monitors; allowing
free movement or at least increasing the camp area; and providing the security
of all residents until they leave Iraq preventing the arrest of even one resident.
We call on Council of Europe member and observer states to respond positively
and rapidly to resettlement demands of Liberty and Ashraf residents.
  • Increasing police stations in Liberty and bringing them closer to residential areas
In the afternoon of Monday March 12 and the morning of Tuesday March 13, Iraqi armed forces opened up a 5-meter wide section of Camp Liberty wall and stationed police forces there. These points are at 10-meter distance from living and rest area of the residents. Therefore the number of police posts have been increased to seven. This is a clear threat to the residents and paves the way for attacking the residents.
Earlier on February 27th, residents of Ashraf and Liberty in separate letters signed by all of the residents to UN Secretary General, his Special Representative and the US Secretary of State had stated their minimum assurances for the transfer of the remaining residents from Ashraf to Liberty, the most important of which was the withdrawal of police and Iraqi armed forces from Liberty

What is really happening in from Iranian news papers and sources

The infightings within regime still flaring: khamenei trying to curb situation every step of the way
The Clerics Supreme leader has been pre-occupied trying to keep the infightings of within its ranks and hierarchy subtle so prevent any pretexts for uprisings and protests. The society is potentially explosive: none of the so called economic plans of Ahmadinejad have worked, the infightings and differences within the ranks (loyalist conservatives to khamenei ;  the perseverance front (Ahmadinejad and Mashaii) , and the remaining so called reformers such as Rafsanjani) have been displayed in official TV broadcasts of the Majlis during Ahmadinjeads’ recent impeachment procedure which was reformed into a “questionnaire”.
Khamenei chose his Expediency Council. Once again he appointed Rafsanjani ( one of the wealthiest clerics in the hierarchy) as the head , but discharged previous members such as cleric Imami Kashani,Mir hossein Moussavi, Mohammad Hashemi (Rafsanjai’s brother) and cleric Rei Shahri. He instead appointed Mahmoud hashemi sharoodi, cleric Iraqi, cleric Mesbah Moghadam, RGC Commander Saffar harandi, RGC commander Vahidi and a number of others in the same ranks as the new members.

It is most probable that Khamanei’s volatile situation does not allow him to rid Rafsanjani off his back. He desperately needs to keep the splitting factions weak and close to him, keep an open door as to control what is happening under his feet.

Ahmadinejad’s so called impeachment in the Iranian Parliament:
Ahmadinejad mocked parliament and supreme Leader
As reported in official papers the whole staged TV show was in favor of Rafsanjani , while Ahmadinejad fired back at some of his personal rivals in the Majilis in his answers.
The impeachment was modified into “10questionnaire” because the supreme leader was trying to prevent an outburst of blatant fighting in the Majilis which would most probably give way to notorious corruption of the hierarchy and weaken his structure. The wuestions included his management of the economy, his defiance of the Supreme Leader and even his views on the hijab and Islam.

There had been a petition before the show but it seems many of the signatories withdrew their signatures and this changed impeachment into a modest questionnaire which was given to him two weeks earlier. The members who withdrew were encouraged by the supreme leader to do so in order to keep the “open battle of fractions” in a low profile.

As agreed by many and as reflected by pro-khamenei loyalists in the Majilis in angry protests; Ahmadinejads replies were only to mock and under estimate the questionnaire. Some of those who did dare to enter the dogfight poured their thoughts into outbursts on the parliament floor; “How dares he to insult the Majlis and the leadership in such audience” said one conservative loyalist.

In return Ahmadinejad who is known for his bad manors and zero culture and ethics, was very rude in tone and frank in examples he put forth to the parliament. In other words he turned the questionnaires into an impeachment of the Majlis members while mocking them most of the time.
Therefore the supreme leader in such staged formality was able to keep the infightings at the lowest possible, while keeping the structure in parts attached.
A point of reminder: When we refer to members of Iranian parliament, bear in mind that most of these appointed members have a history of genocide and corruption and are mostly members of the Revolutionary Guards Corps, or the retired section of the corrupted Cartel.
A book in Farsi had been printed some years ago which I read, describing each one of the members with their astonishing crimes during the 1980s.

Last Wednesday of the New Iranian Year: firecrackers festivities
The Fire Festival (Charshanbeh Suri) in cities across Iran became the scene of protest and expressing outrage of the regime.
At the same time, widespread dissatisfaction has been the centre of activities of the resistance during the “fire” festivities. The “reddening of last Wednesday” which is originally a Zorostian ceremony but has been kept for centuries, has been banned by the clerics. Nevertheless, it allows excuse for gathering and also mocking the security forces of the clerics who are almost in constant battle presence in most main cities of Iran.
Despite lack of access to free Internet and the presence of an organized “Internet police” under the supervision of the Special Revolutionary Guards Corps, people have been able to send reports of the festivities carried out.
In twitter @iraniscc reports from the scene :
13 Mar   @iraniscc : Despite the plan by regime to have very low profile this year, no news out , still people are going against them.
13 Mar   @iraniscc :Shiraz youth used tactic of small home made fireworks “taraghe” to scare sec patrol cars.
13 Mar  @iraniscc : Esfahan Charbaghpayeen area:  fight between Basijs and security unites over incompetence to disperse youth.
13 Mar  @iraniscc :Esfahan, security seemed low profile but present. They  tried to keep distance from youth.
13 Mar  @iraniscc :Esfahan roads leading to kohsofeh are either blocked by security and parked busses in order to stop people from going there for 4shanbe soori (fire festivities)
13 Mar  @iraniscc : Esfahan in one place under marnoon, youth exploded sound grenade bridge cause huge echo in area.
13 Mar   @iraniscc :Esfahan despite the fact  that people are recognized by security guards, many turn out near marnoon &park leading to it
13 Mar  @iraniscc :Tehran the mere presence of people for charshanbe soori  (fire festivities) scares the Bassijis to parts.
13 Mar @iraniscc -Tehran families in park Baharestan bullies by security to drift off. But still they are there (to continue with the fire ceremony)
13 Mar  @iraniscc  Tehran people are only walking in numbers. They tried to put up flares but security was high.
13 Mar @iraniscc:Tehran In Amirieh a big explosion was reported :youth used fire extinguisher to frighten off the sec car near by
13 Mar  @iraniscc : In Tehran : Narmak area people chant : Sid ali (Mocking name of the Supreme leader) you are the next in line
A film sent out on You tube in which people, while using the opportunity of festivities chant anti-government slogans

It has been reported that in Tehran, numerous districts people successfully carried out the ceremonies and despite regular patrolling of security, they refrained from confrontation with the chants. These areas were: In Pakdasht region, in Nazi Abad, Khani Abad and Tehran Bazaar, In Ferdowsi and Geisha and Vanak Squares, Mehrabad, Narmak, Tehran Pars, and Poonak Shemiran areas, Hakimiyeh, GHaleh Hassan Khan, Towhid Square, Molawi, Dowlat Abad, Golestan, Roodhen and Mahalat.
In other cities the same pattern followed.

Hangings and death tolls and execution orders:
Unfortunately in the past week only at leas 15 people have been hanged (3 sisters included) for various reasons. Some of the MEK family members and also arrested independent students and teachers have been charged with MOHAREBE (being anti-God) which is a death sentence. They await their fate. The bitter irony is that the regime allows prison guards to demand money from families of those hanged in exchange for their corps.
Two of those hanged have been Afghan nationals (Gholam sarani, Gol Ahmad heidari).

Vipers at Liberty Prison

Camp Liberty-No.13

NCRI - On the afternoon of Saturday, February 25, near the residents’ sleeping trailers at Liberty, several snakes and vipers were seen, two of them captured by the residents (3 Photos are attached). This is due to the non-livable conditions of this abandoned location and the catastrophic infrastructures at the camp whose readiness and compliance with humanitarian standards were certified at the end of January by Mr. Martin Kobler and his shelter building technician. Meanwhile, the daily walk-through of armed Iraqi forces in the small residential areas of residents continues for 30 to 50 times a day.

Pictures of these snakes tarnish the so-called golden image of liberty and as Alan Dershowitz said two days ago at a conference in Washington, D.C., it leaves behind nothing but a scandal. The world’s most prominent criminal lawyer added:

“What we need immediately is a commission of inquiry to determine how this fraud was perpetrated. Who certified -- who approved that hell hole, that garbage dump? Who said that it met United Nation's standards? Somebody is responsible for perpetrating that fraud and for getting 400 innocent people to risk their lives and their health to be exposed to that kind of trash and that kind of hazard to their health. We have to get to the bottom of this."

Also at that conference Mayor Rudy Guiliani said:

"This isn't a jail. This is a concentration camp. That's what it is. This is a concentration camp. Let's call it what it is."

Consequently, “Liberty residents have come to the conclusion that without the guarantee of their minimum assurances, the only solution to prevent the degeneration of the status quo is their return to Ashraf.” (NCRI Statement on Liberty, No. 12, February 24)

And the Ashraf residents have written in their letters to Secretary General Ban Ki-moon that: “We cannot accept any relocation without minimum guarantees. By obtaining confirmation of their conditions for Liberty by UNAMI, the Iranian regime and the Iraqi government want to give us a choice between death and surrender to religious fascism.”

Mrs. Rajavi, the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, drew the attentions of UN Secretary General, Secretary Clinton, and Baroness Ashton to this unhealthy and anti-human environment by her strongest protest against prison-building and catastrophic conditions of Liberty, and asked for immediate attention to this shameful situation. She reiterated that as Ashraf residents have announced repeatedly, without minimum assurances, no one should expect any voluntary relocation from Ashraf to Liberty.

Maryam Rajavi: If Minimum Assurances are not provided in Liberty, residents of Camp Ashraf and Liberty ready to temporarily relocate to the Jordanian

Mrs. Rajavi informs Secretary Clinton that if the minimum assurances are not provided at Camp Liberty, all residents of Ashraf and Liberty are prepared to leave Iraq in March with their moveable properties and temporarily relocate on the Jordanian side of the border under the supervision of the International Committee of the Red Cross and UNHCR. During the 2003 war, ICRC and the UN had set up tents to accept tens of thousands of asylum-seekers in that area.

  • NCRI - To ensure that the Jordanian government maintains control and feels assured, the area will be fenced by the residents, who will not leave the premises until being resettled in third countries, except for patients who could not be treated within the fenced area.
  • As such, there will be no need for Liberty detention center and the chain of problems and difficulties. At the same time, this will demonstrate maximum flexibility on the part of the NCRI and the residents of Ashraf and the Iraqi government will also achieve what it desires the most.
  • This plan does not require any budget or cost as far as the UN, the US and the EU are concerned. Flattening the land, installing tents, providing logistical support, services and construction materiel will be undertaken and paid for in full by the residents and under the supervision of Jordanian authorities. Electrical power generators will be transferred from Ashraf. The residents’ fixed property will be sold under the supervision or arbitration of the UN and the US and the proceeds will be used to relocate and resettle the residents in third countries.
  • Mrs. Rajavi appealed to Secretary Clinton, the UN Secretary General, Baroness Ashton, Antonio Guterres, Navi Pillay and the ICRI President to announce their agreement with, and support for, this relocation to end the crisis in Ashraf and the slaughter of its residents once and for all,.

While there are still two months left before the deadline for the closure of Ashraf at the end of April, announced by Iraqi Prime Minister, Iraqi authorities have begun threatening Ashraf residents to forcibly relocate to Camp Liberty. None of the minimum assurances that Ashraf residents had sought, has been met. In effect, they are left with only two options: Massacre and death at Ashraf or gradual death in a place called Liberty, under the name and supervision of the UN.

The International Union of Lawyers that represents nearly two million lawyers in 110 countries, the International Committee "In Search of Justice" (ISJ) that represents more than 4,000 parliamentarians in 41 countries, including majorities in 30 parliaments, more than 10,000 European mayors in France, Belgium, and Italy and prominent political, military and judicial personalities and former US government officials in the United States have described Liberty as a being akin to a prison or a “concentration camp.”

In its March 1 statement, the ISJ underscored, "Contrary to the January 31 statement and promises made by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, Liberty does not meet humanitarian and human rights standards and is a severely dilapidated complex in need of total reconstruction. The extensive presence of Iraqi armed forces many surveillance cameras and a lack of freedom of movement have turned the camp into a virtual prison, which has aroused the outrage in the world community and the European Parliament."

This is while the UNHCR has recognized Ashraf residents as "formally asylum- seekers under international law" and "people of concern" who "must be able to benefit from basic protection of their security and well-being. This includes protection against any expulsion or return to the frontiers of territories where their lives or freedom would be threatened".

In an update on the this matter, UNHCR announced on March 1, "Any relocation outside Camp New Iraq [Ashraf] proceed on a voluntary basis, with freedom of movement the most desirable state at the site of relocation".

It is noteworthy that in his December 28, 2011 to the residents of Ashraf, UN Secretary General’s Special Representative on Iraq, Martin Kobler, had written, “As 'asylum seekers', you will be eligible under international law to enjoy basic protections and well-being". I am aware of your request for respect for your privacy, in particular regarding women. I will continue my efforts with the Government of the Republic of Iraq in this regard to establish the appropriate arrangements, with the agreement of the Government of the Republic of Iraq, which would respect the sovereignty of Iraq". With regard to other issues, such as assets and properties, we will continue the discussions towards reaching a solution that respects the property rights of the residents in an organized way under Iraqi law". Regrettably, none of this items have been implement in the manner that would satisfy the residents and give them confidence.

Moreover, in his letter to the residents of Ashraf on the arrangement for the relocation of the first 400 residents of Ashraf to Liberty, dated February 25, 2012, Mr. Kobler had referred to only one police station inside Liberty. It has now become evident that there are six additional police posts with Iraqi guards armed with heavy machine guns within the Camp who engage in patrols 50 to 60 times a day. Mr. Kobler had written that the belongings of all 400 would be transferred as well. Yet, since February 17, more than two-thirds of the belongings loaded on the trucks have not been transferred.

The SRSG had written, “The residents will bring their medical equipment to CL.” However, it is evident that identical to what happened at Ashraf, the Iraqi government wants to take control of the medical equipment.”

None of the earlier promises has been kept. In addition, as European Parliament Vice President and President of the International Committee in Search of Justice (ISJ) Alejo Vidal Quadras announced on March 1, “A campaign of disseminating lies” has been started, “with the intention of blaming the residents of Liberty responsible for the current state of affairs.”

In Separate letters on February 29 and March 2 to the UN Secretary General Ban-Ki-moon, EU High Representative Baroness Ashton and UH High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres, drew attention to the campaign of demonization and dissemination of false information in order to justify forcible relocation, resorting to violence and blaming the victim, requested their immediate intervention and support for the minimum assurances necessary for the relocation of the residents of Ashraf to Liberty. They include the removal of armed Iraqi guards from seven position from the small and tight area of the Camp, where 1,000 Muslim women will be residing, open and direct access to medical services, lawyers and family members, freedom of movement, the transfer of vehicles and moveable property from Ashraf to Liberty or their shipment outside Iraq and the sale of fixable property at Ashraf under UN supervision and reimbursing the proceeds to pay for the cost of relocation and resettlement in third countries.

This minimum assurances are legitimate and lawful and have no contradiction whatsoever with Iraqi government sovereignty. Not agreeing to them clearly forebodes of evil intentions to break down and destroy the Iranian opposition or a massacre at Ashraf.

For this reason, on March 2, Mrs. Rajavi informed Secretary Clinton that if the minimum assurances are not provided at Camp Liberty, all residents of Ashraf and Liberty are willing, if the Iraqi government does not prevent it, to leave Iraqi in March with their moveable properties and temporarily relocate on the Jordanian side of the border under the supervision of the International Committee of the Red Cross and UNHCR. During the 2003 war, ICRC and the UN had set up tents to accept tens of thousands of refugees in that area. To ensure that the Jordanian government maintains control and feels assured, that area will be fenced by the residents and the residents will not leave the premises until being resettled in third countries, except for patients who could not be treated within the fenced area. As such, there will be no need for Liberty detention center and the chain of problems and difficulties. At the same time, this will demonstrate maximum flexibility on the part of the NCRI and the residents of Ashraf and the Iraqi government will also achieve what it desires the most.

This plan does not require any budget or cost as far as the UN, the US and the EU are concerned. Flattening the area, installing tents, providing logistical support, services and construction materiel will be undertaken and paid for in full by the residents and under the supervision of Jordanian authorities. Electrical power generators will be transferred from Ashraf. The residents’ fixed property will be sold under the supervision or arbitration of the UN and the US and the proceeds will be used to relocate and resettle the residents in third countries.

Mrs. Rajavi appealed to Secretary Clinton, the UN Secretary General, Baroness Ashton, Mr. Guterres, Madame Pillay and the ICRC President to announce their agreement with, and support for, this relocation in order to end the crisis in Ashraf and the slaughter of its residents once and for all.

Mrs. Rajavi added that all residents of Ashraf and those in Liberty can be relocated to the border regions of Iraq’s neighboring countries (Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait).
